EMDR psychotherapy in Central London

Lee Anna Simmons

Welcome to this website, through which you can find my availability (here) for therapy in Central London. I provide EMDR psychotherapy to help unlock feelings, aid communication, build understanding and promote healing from trauma.

In the month of March 2020, usual clinic hours and locations have been disrupted due to Covid-19, the new Coronavirus. I am available online and am creating digital resources for between sessions, that many of my clients will be familiar with from our meetings here. This is in progress so do check back for updates.

My background is in Art Psychotherapy and attachment based work, providing services for individuals, groups and organisations. I am experienced working with adults, children and adolescents; EMDR Europe accredited, HCPC registered and BAAT recommended.

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. It is a psychotherapy that has been proven to be effective in treating trauma, and is recommended by the UK’s National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.  Practitioners are also finding it effective in the treatment of other anxiety related disorders.
A wealth of research has been conducted demonstrating the benefits of EMDR  in treating psychological trauma arising from experiences as diverse as war related experiences, childhood abuse or neglect, natural disaster, assault, road traffic accidents and workplace accidents. Recent research also suggests benefits of using EMDR in treating a number of conditions including depression and chronic pain. EMDR has been found to be of benefit to children as well as adults.’ (emdr-europe.org/info)
